“ OK, so I was a bit disappointed. I went here for the beef ribs. I love my beef ribs and I've heard theirs are exceptional. Called ahead to make sure they had some and then drove on down. Got seated much quicker than I thought I would considering the number of people waiting and then when I went to order the first thing I heard was "we're out of brisket and beef ribs." Now mind you, when I go for barbecue I look specifically for brisket and beef ribs. Instead, we had chicken and baby back ribs. OK these were wonderful. Definitely the best baby back ribs I've had in South Florida. The problem is I'm just not a baby back rib guy. I truly did enjoy the sides which I chose, which were brussels sprouts and coleslaw. The beans looked wonderful as well. As a first visit, I did not get to try any of the others. I truly do want to try the banana pudding because I love banana pudding. It's right up there would be beef ribs. So I will be returning for beef ribs, and banana pudding and perhaps to award this restaurant a final five star review. For now I can still highly recommend this as a wonderful place to eat that is fun. has great service, has that old-time barbecue restaurant ambience and serves perfectly smoked barbecue. Enjoy. “ So I did not dine in, I did pick up. Someone told me about this place and I decided to check it out. When you get there it does get packed (inside and parking) so make sure to go at a good time. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Not onto the food. The sweet potato fries are nice, the collard greens were delicious, the bread that comes along with your order are juicy and tasty. Those baby back ribs definitely did not disappoint. And the banana pudding looked interesting so I had to give it a try. Sweet and addicting. Definitely would recommend ”

“ Amazing. We came here 2 nights in a row and the food and service was amazing. We didn't think the food could get better, but Betty our server made the second time around even better than the first. Despite us coming in super close to closing, she came in with a smile. She gave us the best recommendations and was always so nice and attentive. Our favorite sides: cornbread soufflé, cheesy hash brown casserole, coleslaw, bbq beans Favorite foods: burnt ends were incredible, beef ribs & baby back ribs both great, brisket was amazing Don't recommend:mashed potatoes a bit bland, pulled pork a bit dry AAAND we have so much leftover food and only paid $105+tip. “ Now I see what all the fuss was about, this is legit barbecue! Made the long trip down to Shiver's and I have to say I was impressed. Good, old fashioned bbq. Inside is small, and it did get full at lunchtime, but the wait wasn't too bad. I will make this spot my go-to for bbq from now on! ”

“ This place is worth a try if you're visiting the Homestead area. It's one of the best BBQ places at which we've eaten in a long time. In short, it's southern BBQ at its finest. Prominently located on US 1, it is not hard to find. It's brightly lit up at night and the storefront screams to you upon entry that you're about to get a wonderful downhome meal better than your mother used to make (sorry, Mom!). Inside there's long benches arranged in parallel running the length of the interior. It's meant to give the feeling that you're in a picnic pavilion. It's possible at the busiest times that you could be a little cozy with your neighboring party. But we were there at a time where it was only moderately busy and we never had the feeling of being on top of those next to us. We were seated right away and our server attended to us without delay. She clearly was experienced and very good at her craft. She did a great job throughout our stay. The menu featured a lot of Southern favorites making it hard to choose. One thing we knew we wanted to try was the fried corn on the cob and it turned out to be a highlight. It was made to perfection and tasted as good as it sounds. It's a great choice as a starter. For her main, my wife decided to try the Burnt End Sandwich, which she enjoyed immensely. I had a taste and thought it was exceptional. Another highlight for this place is the fabulous array of sides. She chose the Cole Slaw and Sweet Potato Soufflé. The cole slaw was good but the soufflé was great. I had the BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Cornbread Soufflé and Baked Beans. The baked beans were good, the sandwich was excellent, but the soufflé was special. The combination of tastes made this meal perhaps the best one of our one-week trip to Florida. It is not often when I have very good meat for my meal that I say the sides were the highlight...but these soufflés were simply that good. Something else to highlight was value. We had just water to drink so our bill with food, tax and tip was under $50 USD. At less than $25 each with leftovers to take home for another small meal or snack, I was quite happy with the value. The quality was great and the quantity was quite sufficient. If we get down this way again, we'll be sure to make another stop. ”

“ Food is more like 4 stars. Service at to go is lacking. Plus a missing item. We ordered takeout from here yesterday. We had to drive 30 minutes to get here but he said it was worth the drive. So we did. We placed the order over the phone. It is a loud place so a little difficult to order but not too bad. Parking here can be annoying. It gets crowded and there are some skimpy spots. He drives a full size truck. Even if we wanted to dine in we would not have been able to. I love, love brisket and hardly have it. I was looking forward to it but that ended up being the most disappointing thing we ordered. What wasn't fatty was dry. I LOVE the brisket at Mission BBQ in Davie and this one is the polar opposite. Disappointing. I at least sampled everything else and here is what I thought. Ribs. Excellent Chicken. Excellent Cheesy hashbrown casserole. Very good Mashed potatoes. Pretty good Baked beans. (I normally do not like these but I wanted to try it. That bite was pretty good. Saying a lot coming from me) Cole slaw (Something else I do not love but took a bite and this one is pretty good) He was supposed to get chicken tenders and that was not included. Now they have a sign saying check your order. Well, I didn't go in to pick up and he does not want to be bothered. By right, the restaurant should include what he paid for without him double checking. Other annoying thing is I wanted medium buffalo sauce. I told the gal on the phone. So they include 7 BBQ sauces. I happened to notice this because they were in a little bag. So I went back and asked for the buffalo sauce. The gal made me wait. A few minutes. Then she is just standing there looking at me. I asked for the sauces again. She told me it is $2. I did not bring money in. I did not want to go back to the car again which was parked a little far. They included all the wrong sauces. Nickel and dimeing is annoying when they made the mistake. I really wanted to give them three stars but the food is mostly good. Customer service is important too and that can turn me away from a place. ”
